Maninagar – Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Stepwell Revival
Completed June 2026 with AMC
Ahmedabad’s first town-planning scheme grew over this brick-and-lime stepwell completely. The Municipal Corporation later excavated it back out, then maintenance stopped: sewage collected in the kutas, the shaft was tarred over as road, and the plot became a dumping ground. In June 2026, Team Ramdoot Restores cleared it again.
Our Approach to This Project
The work here was water and silt, not stone. The kutas were dewatered, the last water bailed out by bucket, and the silt bed cut with spades and passed up the steps hand to hand, roughly one person per tread. No machinery entered the structure and nothing was tipped back into the shaft.
More than three hundred people worked across three Sundays, with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and residents of Daxini Society, and the drive was covered by Sandesh and Gujarat Samachar Plus. Water out, silt out, nothing else touched.
